Mary Azubah Hazell was born on September 3, 1876, to John Franklin Hazell and Amelia “Mary” (Christenot) Hazell in San Francisco, California. She was the first of five children. Her siblings were John, Frank, Daisy and Edward Hazell and they were all born in San Franscisco.
